Description: Four marble figures surrounded by evergreens
Caption: These statues once graced the facade of the University's Sibley Hall on Prince Street. Cmmissioned in Italy in 1874 by Hiram Sibley, a university trustee, they were intended to represent Industry, Geography, Astronomy and Navigation. They were shipped to Rochester by sailing vessel and canal boat. The statues were a feature of the old campus until the building was razed in 1968.
