Description: Chain saw sculpture based on student's pictures of animals

Caption: School 23 teacher Cathy Feinen invited the artist John Dempsey to discuss sculpture with students. He did a several day "artist-in-residency" and asked students to create pictures of animals he would combine into a sculpture for the school yard. He worked with chain saws for several days to carve a big tree trunk provided by the City of Rochester Forestry Department. The result is a wonderful animal fantasy that he carved while students watched.
